Seminary Journal
"It has been the desire of the seminary for many years to have an impact beyond the 'sacred halls' of Multnomah's campus through an academic journal, and now we have that opportunity through Cultural Encounters."
Dr. Donald Brake, seminary dean
Cultural Encounters: A Journal for the Theology of Culture is the new, thought-provoking academic journal produced by The Institute for the Theology of Culture: New Wine, New Wineskins of Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Directed by Dr. Paul Louis Metzger, the journal will debut its inaugural issue in December 2004.
This new journal is unique in theological circles and will be the catalyst for engaging culture through scholarly articles by men such as Dr. Stanley Grenz, Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, Dr. Paul Molnar, and others. Cultural Encounters will pursue a biblically informed, Christ-centered trinitarian engagement of contemporary culture. By fostering discussion on a variety of issues, the journal will address differing theological perspectives while providing Multnomah the opportunity to be heard by a broader audience.
Each bi-annual issue will address a variety of themes such as religious pluralism, racialization, materialism, poverty, the increased urbanization of the world, the environment, cross-cultural contexualization, sexuality, genetic engineering, post modernism, politics, and more.
