2002 - Present

Tom Hauff was born in Kodiak, Alaska, but spent most of his growing up in Port Angeles, Washington. God snatched him into life when he was 15 years old and since then he has pursued ministry wherever his gifts have been of use. He attended college with the goal of being a public high school teacher, but soon was called to go on to some form of teaching which involved the Bible. It was in college that he met his wife Kathy, who was working toward a degree in Art. They married while in college. Having decided to go on to seminary, both worked for a number of years to save for costs while living and working in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where Kathy grew up.

The Hauffs moved to Portland for school in 1990. During seminary, Tom realized that he was gifted most strongly for teaching rather than pastoring or music ministry, so he went on for his doctoral studies in England. When finished with school, and having lived in the Northwest all their lives, Tom and Kathy were excited by an opportunity to teach and live in Portland. They both viewed a position at Multnomah as an answer to years of preparation and prayer. Kathy currently is an Assistant Superintendent at a local golf course.

Academically, Tom has focused predominantly on the biblical languages and how we understand and apply scripture. He strongly emphasizes the need for each individual to grasp the Bible with a view to how it demands active realization in our lives at each moment of decision. His favorite Bible verse is Col. 3:23-24.

Tom's hobbies include reading, music, woodworking, working out, and art. Tom and Kathy have 3 extremely unruly cats that demand constant discipline and who will probably be a source of heart-ache for years to come.

"I'm so thankful for Multnomah and the opportunity it affords me to live daily my own spiritual gifting and to challenge students to live out theirs each and every day as well. "Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another"-- and at Multnomah we, students and teachers alike, sharpen one another on the road to perfection."
