Biography of Dr. John Katsion

Dr. John Katsion was born in Omaha, NE, but spent his childhood and teenage years overseas as a missionary kid. His parents were missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions to Jamaica and then to England. At the age of six John accepted Christ as his Savior, and ever since it has been a roller coaster ride of grace.
John came back to the States in 1986 to attend Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, in Owatonna, MN. It was at Pillsbury that he developed a love for speech and drama and it was also at Pillsbury that he met the love of his life, his wonderful wife Peggy. He then attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis for three semesters before returning to Pillsbury in 1992 to become a graduate assistant in the speech department. While teaching at Pillsbury he finished a Master of Arts in Speech Communication at Minnesota State University (Mankato). He then taught at various state universities and community colleges until finally ending up in the fall of 1999 at Hannibal-LaGrange College, in Hannibal, MO where he taught speech and drama for seven years. During this time he completed his PhD. in communication studies at Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), graduating in May of 2005.
John has been married to his wonderful wife Peggy since 1992, and they now have three children: Jacob, Lincoln, and Elijah. John has extensive experience directing and producing plays and also developing and managing church-related drama ministries and college-level forensic teams. John loves to preach, to keep up with American popular culture, to work on perfecting his hook in golf, to follow the Chicago Bears and Liverpool F.C., and to just simply get in his car and go for a drive.
"I am interested in training competent communicators who can effectively proclaim the truth of God’s word. Whether that proclamation comes through public speaking, a good conversation, or through more visual media such as theatre or film, my goal is to train men and women who can “speak up” about the things of God so that society will begin to see the relevance of the Word of God for today. I am excited about the chance the Lord has given me in directing the Communications major here at Multnomah Bible College, and I hope to lead it in such a way as to do credit to the wonderful men and women who work here and who have gone before me, and to honor my Lord."
