Academics

Effective ministry training presumes a knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. At Multnomah, "biblical" remains at the center of our mission, programs, and curriculum, as well as in our name. We not only teach about the Bible, but also insist that students interact honestly, thoroughly, and personally with the biblical text. Our faculty teach and model the truth that God's Word must transform our worldview, our approach to ministry, and our personal Christian walk.

Through every facet of our educational program, we urge one another to strive toward Christlikeness and emulate the traits of the humble servant-leader. This process is not left to chance. Spiritual formation courses, mentored pastoral internship, and regular curriculum, reinforce that emphasis.

Effective ministry training also involves helping people. At Multnomah, we hone in our students the habits and skills necessary to touch people - whether these people are believers active in the local church or nonbelievers who need to respond. We understand that servant-leaders must sharpen their skills to understand and equip their church, serve their community, and impact their world.

Program Options

Because Multnomah Biblical Seminary was launched to provide a complementary, non-repetitive seminary option for the Bible college graduate, its master's programs are structured in two tracks.

Standard Track
The standard track is designed for the college or university graduate with no formal Bible or theology training. Such students enter the Graduate Certificate foundation year and then continue with one additional year (Master of Arts in Biblical Studies or Pastoral Studies) or two additional years (Master of Divinity).

Advanced Track
The advanced track is designed for the Bible college graduate who seeks a deeper, richer ministry preparation. In effect, such students enter the second-year curriculum, building on their biblical and theological foundation rather than repeating it. In their second or third years, they go farther in ministry preparation, taking advanced level courses or selecting concentrations for deeper enrichment.
