Technology Requirements

Computer Experience

In order to successfully complete their courses, online students are expected to have basic knowledge of their personal computer, its operating system, and additional tools such as a word processor, e-mail, and an internet browser. Multnomah University uses Canvas, which is referred to as MU Learn, as their learning management system.

Internet Connection

  • High-speed Internet access is required (to stream videos or upload documents)
  • Broadband connection is recommended

Hardware Requirements

Any personal computer or laptop purchased new within the last 5 years is highly recommended

  • Microphone and speakers or headphones
  • Webcam

Software Requirements

  • Web browser (e.g., Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, or Google Chrome) which support the following programs: Acrobat Reader, Adobe Connect, Cookies, Flash Player 10 or higher, Java, JavaScript, QuickTime, and Windows Media Player
  • Microsoft Office 2007 (or higher) or a compatible office software (Windows 365 can be downloaded using your Multnomah e-mail information.  For more resources visit
