The Ambassador Choir is a vibrant and powerful actualization of the Music Ministry Department’s vision. The choir has established a long standing tradition of excellence in two areas: exhibiting exceptional musicality in a wide variety of styles and genres and expressing a passionate commitment to worshipping the Savior. The choir radiates a unique blend of music and Biblical truth in its concerts, performing musical selections from the earliest Christian manuscripts to contemporary compositions. Musical selections are interspersed with student testimonies which serve to both clarify and accentuate the program’s theme.
Under the direction of Professor Daniel A. Burnett, the Ambassador Choir is a central part of Multnomah’s cultivation of musicians and worship leaders. Professor Burnett has years of experience in choral education in the academic and church settings as well as serving several local churches in pastoral ministry. He leads the Ambassador Choir with a vision and passion to share God’s gift of music as evangelistic outreach and to a heart of service and worship in his students.
This semester, Spring 2015, there will be three opportunities to hear the Ambassador Choir in the Portland metro area. This spring’s concert revolves around the understanding of choral music as part of the liturgical (worship) service. The concerts will feature Mass settings by Renaissance composer William Byrd and Gospel composer Robert Ray along with several other selections. The concert dates are:
Sunday, April 12 at Rivercrest Community Church (3201 NE 148th Ave., Portland, OR 97230), 10:15AM
Sunday, April 26 at Beaverton First United Methodist Church (12555 SW 4th St., Beaverton, OR 97005), 7:00PM
Tuesday, April 28 in Bradley Hall, Rm. 1 on the MU Campus, 7:00PM
The on-campus event on April 28 will be a combination Choir Concert and Student Recital. Interspersed with the choral numbers there will be solos and duets performed by our more advanced students taking private lessons. Join us for the concert and an enjoyable reception in the lobby afterwards where light refreshments will be served and you will have an opportunity to chat with choir members, student musicians and their instructors.
