What does Multnomah believe about the Scriptures?
At both the individual and institutional level, Multnomah is committed to the authority and inerrancy of the Bible.
What is the spiritual atmosphere? Are students really excited about Jesus?
At Multnomah, spiritual formation is an integral part of your seminary experience. Spiritual Formation classes, chapel services, days of prayer, and internships help keep your walk with the Lord alive and growing.
When can someone visit the campus?
While you are welcome to stop by anytime, planning ahead gives us the best opportunity to show you around campus and to answer your questions. You can join us for a day or a few days. Our hope is that you will not only fall in love with MBS but Portland as well.
The best time to come is when school is in session. This gives you the opportunity to sit in classes, connect with current students, eat in the cafeteria (our treat), meet with professors and talk with Financial Aid.
Schedule your visit today.
What forms are needed to apply for financial aid (link to Financial Aid)?
Complete the first step for financial assistance by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
When will I know how much financial aid I have been awarded?
Financial aid will be awarded once you have been accepted to Multnomah (see the Financial Aid section for further details), so apply early! For more information about financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office at 877.251.6560, 503.251.5335, or finaid@multnomah.edu.
Do students have an option to purchase a meal plan?
Students are not required to purchase meal plans offered by Multnomah. Please visit the Multnomah Dining Services page for more information.
Is Multnomah community-oriented?
MBS is a learning community that starts with faculty and student relationships. We have a team of scholar/practitioner-teachers who strive to mentor students to be effective ministers. Each of our students connect with professors and each other both in and out of the classroom through theological discussions, study groups, and scheduled activities and events, i.e. days of prayer and class retreats.
There are couples, families, and singles living on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods who reflect a wide range of ages, ethnicities, and ministry/life experiences. This builds a richer experience both on campus and in the local church.
Does the Seminary emphasize practical training for professional ministry?
Multnomah students serve as they learn. Each seminary program is built around the goal of preparing you for real-life, professional ministry. Portland is a ‘living lab’ of culture and all students are required to be involved in ministry in their neighborhood and their local church – most degrees require an internship. Everything is taught from a practical perspective so that what you learn in class one day can be applied to your ministry the next.
Does the school's location enhance learning and ministry opportunities?
Multnomah is located in Portland, Oregon, a major city where opportunities for ministry abound! Although Portland is a beautiful city nestled between the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains, it harbors a tremendous spiritual need because it is in one of the least-churched states in the nation. Multnomah has led the way in mobilizing churches and ministries in the greater Portland area to work together to reach the city with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Are Multnomah professors down-to-earth and approachable?
Multnomah's faculty members not only have rich academic backgrounds, but also ministry experience and inviting personalities! Our professors often eat lunch with students, meet students over coffee, and host students in their own homes.
