The Ambassador Choir is a vibrant and powerful actualization of the Music Ministry Department’s vision. The choir has established a long standing tradition of excellence in two areas: exhibiting exceptional musicality in a wide variety of styles and genres and expressing a passionate commitment to worshipping the Savior. The choir radiates a unique blend of music and biblical truth in its concerts, performing musical selections from the earliest Christian manuscripts to contemporary compositions. Musical selections are interspersed with student testimonies which serve to both clarify and accentuate the program’s theme.
Under the direction of Professor Daniel A. Burnett, the Ambassador Choir is a central part of Multnomah’s cultivation of musicians and worship leaders. Professor Burnett has years of experience in choral education in the academic and church settings as well as serving several local churches in pastoral ministry. He leads the Ambassador Choir with a vision and passion to share God’s gift of music as evangelistic outreach and to cultivate a heart of service and worship in his students.
This semester, Spring 2016, there will be three opportunities to hear the Ambassador Choir in the Portland metro area. The concerts will feature the Ambassador Choir singing a program of Americana selections featuring music of composers exclusively from the United States. The concert will start with songs by William Billings (1746-1800), the first American born composer of note. Then it will explore other early American folk songs, including several African-American Spirituals. The concert will conclude with songs by contemporary composers including Rene Clausen, Eric Whitacre, and Randall Thompson, and arrangement by director, Professor Daniel Burnett, and an original work by MU music student Donald Adams. The concert dates are:
Sunday, April 3, Rivercrest Community Church, 3201 NE 148th Ave., Portland, OR 97230. Morning Service, 10:15 a.m. (concert selections)
