I have been a church organist for 46 years and have arranged numerous hymns and anthems. Currently, I am the music director at Christ the King Lutheran Church leading a choir of 25 members. I have a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in chemical dependency, a B.M. in Jazz Performance from Portland State University, and an M.M. in Pipe Organ Performance, also from Portland State.
I have studied in New York (Manhattan Conservatory of Music), and have performed on the East and West coasts with a jazz trio. I have also toured with the Symphonic Jazz Concert Orchestra as pianist and arranger. I've toured Europe performing in Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Austria. I currently teach jazz studies at Reed College and have also taught at Portland State University, Lewis and Clark College, and a Korean music school.
My other activities include arranging for Cabaret shows, performing, touring, and studio recording. I am starting my 13th year teaching jazz at Reed College, and am the Director of Jazz studies at the Transformation Voice Training Institute.
