Favorite Quote

"Read, every day, something no one else is reading.

Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.

Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.

It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity."

–Christopher Morley

Where I come from

I grew up in Portland, Oregon about 3 miles from the current Multnomah Campus. My three younger brothers and I came from parents who were the first in both of their families to give their lives to Christ (they met serving in Campus Crusade). I love being part of a large family and enjoy the cacophony that accompanies all our family gatherings.

Faith story

I gave my heart to Christ as a young child and found solace, grace, and friendship in my Lord and Savior throughout my childhood and young adulthood. As an adult, I have fallen more and more in love with my Heavenly Father, who provides all my needs, sustains me even when I cannot feel His presence, and continues to surprise me.

Why I teach at Multnomah University

As a psychologist, my two favorite things are education and counseling. Multnomah University has allowed me a forum in which to integrate my faith into what I do best. I enjoy the privilege of educating and equipping students with the tools to meet hurting people where they are, love them as Christ does, and then guide them toward healing.

Current ministry outside class

I enjoy serving in music and drama with my husband, who is an ordained music minister in the Nazarene church. I also serve on the Women’s ministry board at my church. In addition to my church ministries, I sing in a semi-professional choir call Voices of Hope, which raises money for people in need.

Extra-curricular, non-ministry activities

I am a Portland Trailblazer fanatic. I like to take pictures and scrapbook my family’s adventures. I love to sing and to travel.

Family

I have two children, Natalie and Jacob, and a wonderful husband, Stephen. We also have two dogs, Mocha and Samson.
