Where I come from
I was born and raised in Jamestown, New York. I grew up on a mink ranch. It was here I learned the value of hard work. As a child within a family of Swedish immigrants, I learned the true meaning of good food such as pickled herring, korv, and limpa.
Faith story
While attending Fluvanna Community Church, I came to faith in Christ as a child, later being baptized as a teen. As a committed believer of Jesus Christ throughout college into adulthood I met, married, and moved to Oregon with my husband, Charles, in 1983. My faith has continued to grow as I have served in my family, my community, and the world.
Why I teach and direct at Multnomah
An intense love for the Lord led me to Multnomah University. It was with a clear and direct calling from the Lord that I came to Multnomah to help implement the Degree Completion Program.
Teaching and advising in the program fulfills a personal mission statement: To resonate my faith through creatively helping others to discern and develop their God given potential. It is with great passion and conviction that I encourage prospective and enrolled students to search out and attain their academic goals.
Education and research
In 1998, following years of higher education and industry work experience, I went back to George Fox to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in the Degree Completion Program. I subsequently enrolled in Western Seminary’s Master of Arts Ministry & Leadership Degree, concentrating on cross-cultural women’s ministry through micro-loan program development. I have also pursued Doctoral courses through Regent University.
Family and other
My husband and I have two grown children. Adam and Evan are both earning degrees in accounting and marketing through George Fox University. Another beloved member of the family is a German Shepherd dog, Sasha.
I enjoy travelling the globe, running, hiking in National Parks, perennial gardening, reading, and people and cross-cultural interactions. My favorite color is royal blue and my favorite movies are Life is Beautiful and The Sound of Music.
Current ministry outside class
Nuevo Renacer, El Salvador is a village development project in conjunction with Agros International. I have travelled many times to develop relationships with the villagers, encouraging and being encouraged by the great faith and determination of the human soul. Permanent houses, a community shelter, a water system, village infrastructure, and micro loan businesses have been built and established. Children and parents alike have come to know the Lord in a close and personal way. It is also my heart’s desire to see those that travel down to evidence God’s hand at work, come back and impart that learning to those around them here in the Portland area.
