Where I come from

I have worked in several churches in Oregon as Associate Pastor and Director of Christian Education. I planted Imago Dei Community in October of 2000 in Portland, Oregon and serve as Lead Pastor. I am the co-creator of the Advent Conspiracy, a global initiative designed to help solve the water crisis by calling Christians back to the real meaning of Christmas. I am also co-creator of Love Portland, a growing city-wide initiative designed to engage the church in developing relationships with the community by loving and blessing the city.

I have authored four books: Jesus in the Margins (Multnomah Publishers, 2005), This Beautiful Mess (Multnomah Publishers, 2006), Advent Conspiracy (Zondervan, 2009 – book and DVD), and Kingdom Called Desire (Zondervan, 2011).

I speak around the country teaching the Bible on the Kingdom of God, holistic mission, leadership, and spiritual formation. I completed my Doctorate from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston. I am married to my best friend, Jeanne, and we have four wonderful children.
