Mrs. Yerden was born into a minister’s home with much exposure to music. She developed her musical skills through childhood and adolescence.

She received a B.A. in Music Education from Anderson College, and an M.M. in Organ Performance at the University of Oregon. Ruth continues to grow through instructional workshops and seminars at Portland State University.

Ruth has taught elementary music in three schools. On the college level she has taught at Azusa Pacific University and Bethany Bible College and is currently teaching at Multnomah University and Warner Pacific College. She served as concert choir and chorale accompanist at Chico State University.

Ruth is a commissioned minister in the Church of God in the area of music and is currently on staff with her husband Frank at Rockwood Church of God as Worship Leaders. In the summer, Ruth tours with her sister in a duo/piano team across the United States. She is also the staff accompanist at Warner Pacific College and performs and adjudicates at various events in the area. Along with Dr. Dennis Plies on marimba, Ruth also performs regularly as part of the Tabor Duo.

Ruth and her husband have three married daughters and six grandchildren.
