Being a Multnomah grad certificate holder working in a creative access country I have had to hide my year at Multnomah from local authorities. Having the name Multnomah University on a diploma to show to local authorities will only be useful in my context if those authorities cannot easily find out that Multnomah is a seminary/bible college. If there is a web site stating that Multnomah University is a Christian Bible related college (as is the case already now) it would bring the worker's position in my situation in jeopardy (as a quick background check can quickly show what MU stands for).

Just a note in response to your letter that I was pleased that Multnomah is taking this move (the name change to MU). If changing a name can accomplish so much for your students and you can retain your "salt" qualities then by all means move ahead!

But let's let this be the last name change, before it starts becoming a habit.;-) I was here when you were MSB!
