A Letter from Dr. Paul Metzger
Hello, New Wine Tasters.
I am writing to encourage you to set aside next Saturday, October 2 to attend the New Wine, New Wineskins conference, Two Wailing Walls and the Peoples of Promise.
The Middle East conflict involving Jews and Palestinians is one of the most critical issues the world and global church faces. Part of the problem with this conflict, like with many others, is that we all tend to objectify and pre-judge people who are different. We need to make sure that we don’t prejudge them, just as we must also make sure that we don’t impose a theological system or foreign policy on the Bible, but allow the Bible to speak to us for itself. We need to put faces on the people, find out about their stories—and reengage God’s story in Jesus.
In so doing at this conference, we will walk away having learned more about the conflict, more about what the Bible has to say to the situation, and more about ourselves. The diversity of presenters and perspectives make this conference a must-attend event. I’ve attached the conference flyer and registration form. If you have not yet registered, you can do so today by filling out the form on your computer, saving it and sending it as an attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. More information about the conference, including the schedule, workshops descriptions and a list of speakers, can be found here.
I hope to see you next Saturday! Please pray as we drink of Christ as our New Wine, that we as God’s Church will be poured out as a reconciling force of love in this world full of hate.
