Unwrapping the Gift of Christ

"For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

‘Tis the Season

‘Tis the season of tinsel and twinkling lights…holiday tunes and crowded shopping malls. December has come and brought along with it the joys of Christmas. I love this season and everything that it brings. Read the rest of this entry »

A Season of Thanks

“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him” Psalm 34:8

Autumn is in full swing here in the Pacific Northwest! Signs of fall are evident everywhere—the freshness in the crisp cool air, the smell of fires, warm and vibrantly colored leaves beginning to fall and cover the ground. It’s that time of year again when thoughts are naturally turned towards feelings of nostalgia, holiday memories and family traditions. I love this time of year for these reasons, as well as for the opportunity to consider a season of gratitude. Read the rest of this entry »

Transforming Love

Transforming Love

This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. I John 4:10

I recently had the privilege of attending the John G. Mitchell Christian Life Conference here on Multnomah's campus. Throughout the week we looked at different attributes of Christ—His compassion, His justice, His perfection and His transforming love. Read the rest of this entry »

Hiding His Word

Hiding His Word

“Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119:11)

I was recently reminded again of why it is that I absolutely love being a part of the ministry of Multnomah! Sitting in Dr. Stephen Kim’s BIB503 class this past week, I was poignantly provided with a reaffirmation of ministry, vision and purpose. Read the rest of this entry »

A Life Well Lived

A Life Well Lived

“I don’t want to live 98.9% for Jesus,” … “I want to live 100% for Him!” - Brett McLean

Life Lost

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending a memorial service for a young man who, at the age of 26, lost his life I am told, while attempting to save another. Serving as a camp counselor in north central Oregon, Brett McLean (son of Scott and Christie Huggins McLean, Dip ’73 ex.) jumped in to a turbulent waterfall to rescue a camper who had slipped and fallen in. Sadly both lives were lost.

Steadied By Faith

Steadied By Faith

A Message from the Alumni Director

“How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9

I've been enjoying Dr. Lockwood’s book, Unlikely Heroes—Ordinary People with Extraordinary Faith, a Biblical and Personal Reflection on Hebrews 11. Through my read I’ve appreciated the opportunity of getting to know our president more. His unique blend of academic perspective and devotional application, as he identifies the cast of these Old Testament characters—simple, ordinary, flawed people living out extraordinary faith, has been encouraging. The Art of Being

The Art of Being

Message from the Alumni Director

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Dr. Luis Palau (Grad Cert ’61),  our 75th anniversary commencement speaker, encouraged this year’s graduates, faculty, and staff alike, as he considered his Multnomah experience and shared how God had used his time at Multnomah to prepare him for the ministry of evangelism he is involved in today.

Greetings From Africa

Greetings From Africa

Warmest of greetings to you from Uganda, East Africa! My greetings today come from Jinja where I am currently serving with a mission’s team from our church. In addition to our ministry here, I'’ve had the privilege of connecting with Multnomah alumni and have been encouraged to see the work God is doing in and through their lives in building His church around the world. Love Story – A Homecoming Reflection

Love Story – A Homecoming Reflection

Message from the Alumni Director

“I in them and You in Me — so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me.” John 17:23

This past month, we commemorated Multnomah’s 75th anniversary with a special Homecoming Week celebration. Traveling from California, Colorado, Canada, and even some as far away as Uganda, hundreds of alumni returned home in celebration of this significant milestone in Multnomah’s history.
