Steadied By Faith

Steadied By Faith

A Message from the Alumni Director

“How could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9

I've been enjoying Dr. Lockwood’s book, Unlikely Heroes—Ordinary People with Extraordinary Faith, a Biblical and Personal Reflection on Hebrews 11. Through my read I’ve appreciated the opportunity of getting to know our president more. His unique blend of academic perspective and devotional application, as he identifies the cast of these Old Testament characters—simple, ordinary, flawed people living out extraordinary faith, has been encouraging. The Art of Being

The Art of Being

Message from the Alumni Director

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Dr. Luis Palau (Grad Cert ’61),  our 75th anniversary commencement speaker, encouraged this year’s graduates, faculty, and staff alike, as he considered his Multnomah experience and shared how God had used his time at Multnomah to prepare him for the ministry of evangelism he is involved in today.

Warmest of greetings to you from Uganda, East Africa! My greetings today come from Jinja where I am currently serving with a mission’s team from our church. When We Face Loss

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” Genesis 50:20

Have you ever experienced a time of loss? The loss of a job, your health, a committed relationship, a marriage, a dream, a child, or a loved one? Throughout life’s journey the road is often met with hardship — difficult seasons that seem unjust and unfair.  Read the rest of this entry »

Cultivating a Heart After His Own

Cultivating a Heart After His Own

Message from the Alumni Director

“Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalm 119

I love the eager anticipation a New Year can bring. For me, it is often the feeling of a fresh start, along with the expectation of the unknown that makes this opportunity for reflection and the consideration of new goals so exciting. Read the rest of this entry »

Anticipating the Messiah

Message from the Alumni Director

I’ve been re-reading the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Paul’s epistles this year. Through this, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the weight of the disappointment that must have been experienced both by God and His people when Israel failed to recognize the gift of the promised Messiah. In spite of such clear prophecies, Israel let the most momentous event in history go by unnoticed. Talk about anti-climactic! Read the rest of this entry »

Message from the Alumni Director

“As the people of God, we are to live, to eat, and to breathe the story of God… We are to know it and to be transformed by it. It is to give us language and vocabulary to explain what is happening in our lives and what we are living for.” Dr. Mike Roth (M. Div ’03, BS ‘00) Read the rest of this entry »
