As you can imagine, tracking down students who were here from our founding class in Fall 1936 and graduated with their diploma in Spring 1939 is quite challenging. Many are not well enough to travel, but in this very special 75th Anniversary homecoming week we are celebrating, we are so thankful for the special letter we received from one of these very alum! See what the Class of 1939 has to say to you today!

The following is adapted from a monthly letter sent in June 2011 to donors and friends of Multnomah.

May, with its wonderful commencement celebration, is the most exciting — and the busiest — month of the year for Multnomah University.
It’s when we witness the fruit of our labors, 200 graduates, cross the stage to receive their diplomas and our congratulations. It’s when we replay the stories of the quiet yet relentless grace of God in the lives of malleable students who will extend our mission and vision.

"I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a million times. We have to be faithful in our jobs, but it’s the Lord who recruits for us."
With the words above as her admonishment, Admissions Counselor Lisa Hezmalhalch sent us an email with a word of encouragement via a blog post from a student who will be starting at Multnomah in the TESOL program this Fall semester.

Quotes from the Video
April is an exciting month! We will be hosting an event here on campus called Spring Thaw, where 850 high school students and their leaders will come from all over the Northwest and join 400 of our current students for a time of worship, teaching, and plain old fun.
We have two main goals for this event. First, we want students to grow deeper in their knowledge of God and gain a deeper understanding of His Word. Second, we hope that some of them will become Multnomah students in the next several years. Read the rest of this entry »
Offering Hope Amidst The Terrible Aftermath in Japan
Guest Post by David Sanford
Like most people, I still haven’t been able to comprehend the staggering toll from Japan’s worst disaster since World War II.
Nuclear radiation leaks, rolling blackouts that continue to put hospital patients and others (especially the elderly) at risk, a critical lack of sanitary water, the long-term displacement of massive numbers of people, and extremely unsafe conditions across hundreds of square miles will claim growing numbers of Read the rest of this entry »

A Tradition of Prayer Has Begun!
Started by students on the Student World Outreach Team (SWOT), this event has been designed so that a student, staff, or faculty member is assigned to each hour of the day, 7 days a week for an entire month out of each semester (with spring break there are only 20 days). The students can sign up for as many hours as they wish, for individual prayer or prayer in small Read the rest of this entry »
Valentine’s Day & Multnomah’s 75th Birthday
Categories: 75th Anniversary, Alumni, Dr. Lockwood, Faculty, General, Pray For MU, Programs
Many of you know that February 14th, 1936 was the day that Rev. John G. Mitchell gathered a group of ministers who collectively decided to start a school that would teach the Truth of God's Word in the Pacific Northwest. And the following Fall 1936 semester saw Multnomah School of the Bible's first class of students. Read the rest of this entry »

Goodbye Farrah – Hello Ronnie!
With the New Year comes many new changes and life opportunities here in the Alumni Department. In fact, there are great changes taking place in my own life as I step in to take over Farrah Weinert’s position as Senior Alumni Relations Coordinator. My name is Ronnie Glazner (BS ’10) and I grew up in a pastor’s home with two older sisters in Sutherlin, Oregon. After I graduated from high Read the rest of this entry »

As 2010 draws to an end, I am writing to you about Multnomah's vision for the future and how you can support our students.
Vision
Vision is a word we've been using a lot lately at Multnomah. As we look back on this past year we can't help but reflect upon our new vision "to become a biblical university of global influence that dynamically shapes Christian students into ambassadors of Jesus Christ, saturated in Scripture and ready to serve."
