Cinco de Mustache 2013

At 11:45 am on November 8, MU’s cafeteria looks like it does on any other Friday afternoon — completely normal. Students pile food on their plates and find a seat next to a favorite friend or professor. But today is not a normal day. Once the clock’s hands point to noon, the mood in the room suddenly changes. Portland Youth Leaders to Gather for a Day of Training and Collaboration

Please allow me to introduce...Bridges.

About six years ago, a couple of old guys were sitting in a coffee shop that was way too cool for them in a trendy Portland neighborhood. While neither one of them was likely to be cast in “Portlandia,” both of them were teaching youth ministry in PDX, and both had a deep desire to use their particular gifting and training to strengthen local youth ministries and build the kingdom of God. ‘I just felt God wanted me here’

One student is a commuter majoring in business administration. Another is a guitarist who wants to make the most of his musical gifts. Still another is an aspiring missionary pilot who plans to focus on aviation technology.

Our freshmen are here for a lot of different reasons, but they all have one thing in common: an unshakeable faith in God. And they arrived on campus August 22 for a four-day orientation program that spoke to the heart of the Multnomah community. Read the rest of this entry »

Multnomah University Appearing in Portlandia Season 3

Remember this casting call for  Portlandia Season 3 filming on campus?

Portlandia TV Show Features Multnomah University Campus

Portlandia filmed a number of sketches for season 3 for two days this past summer and we had a blast. The Portlandia film crew and actors were some of the best people we've ever had the privilege of working with. It was great seeing Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen hanging around the Admissions Offices or sitting in the commuter lounge of the JCA or sweating it out for three hours with Dr. Dan Lockwood in a very hot Mitchell Library because the sound guys needed the AC turned off!

A Conference On Fatherlessness In Portland

A Conference On Fatherlessness In Portland

Why Attend

"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling." – Psalm 68:5

In 2010 24.7 million American children lived in a biologically father-absent home. That equates to 33 percent of America’s kids living without a biological father in their household. Over twenty million lived with no father (biological, adoptive, or step).  Father-Shift seeks to bring awareness to this epidemic and equip communities to bring healing and change to the fatherless landscape in our City. Some of our students and alumni are involved with this event and we at Multnomah thought it important enough to partner with the local churches to sponsor it the conference.
