How does Multnomah measure its success in changing the hearts and lives of people? One way we measure success is through hearing your stories and how God is at work in you.

Help us share your story.

Technology: Help or Hindrance to Christian Living?

Technology: Help or Hindrance to Christian Living?

Last Thursday in chapel, a moderated Staff and Faculty Panel discussed the issue of technology and how it effects our lives. For a modern student body that uses text messaging, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube as naturally as they would use their own limbs, the ideas presented were challenging thought-provoking. They Love Living @ MU

Recently, our Student Services department (they run student housing and residence life, amongst other things) ran a contest for students to tell them, via video, why they love living at Multnomah.

There was  a modest cash prize - but the real cheddar was getting on to the www.multnomah.edu homepage and promoted via this blog!

The Vid

This video is so good, it makes all of us who are already graduated want to re-enroll and move back in!

Congrats to William A. Beatty for a great production and to Greg Woodman for some sweet original music!

See more MU vids at www.youtube.com/multnomahuniversity

And seriously, this video was 100% student-produced!

Multnomah Is Part Of My Story – Call For Videos!

Attention all Alumni!

The Multnomah family wants to know what you are up to. You can help us share your story by making a video!

3 Easy Steps to Making Your Video

  1. Make Your Video
    • Start with: “Hi, I’m (name) and I graduated in (class year) with a (degree name).”
    • What you are currently doing (life, ministry, career)
    • Multnomah’s ongoing impact in your life
    • End with: “I’m (name) and Multnomah is part of my story."
  2.  Keep It Short
    • Under 2 minutes – or shorter if possible, but still riveting!
  3. Upload!
    • Upload your video to YouTube or another video sharing site and send the link to alumni@multnomah.edu OR send us a DVD.

What Will Happen With It

We will choose a video each month to be our Alumni Spotlight Video. (If your video is chosen, we will send your video’s link to all Multnomah alumni in the Alumni Connection e-newsletter.)

We’ll likely add all of them to our YouTube Channel’s “favorites” section and upload them to the Facebook Fan Page:

Now go… Get rolling! Looking forward to hearing about your adventures! Nobody tells the Multnomah story like our Alumni!

YouTube Turns 5 Years-Old

Can you believe that on this day 5 years ago, www.youtube.com was launched? It almost seems like it's been here forever.

Here are a couple of good, short write-ups about YouTube's special day from the Chicago Tribune and the Mashable websites.

Us, 5 Years Ago

5 years ago, Multnomah had just launched the Website we're re-doing right now and we didn't have a blog yet - or a Facebook page, or Chapels on iTunes, or Podcasts, or RSS Feeds, or our own embedded videos from our own Youtube Channel!

www.youtube.com/multnomahuniversity - check back often, we've got more plans and videos already in the pipeline for this!

Student Videos

Also, our students are making more and more great videos these days (actually, they always have, it's just that they are now, thanks to YouTube, more readily available). So, in honor of the Junior-Senior Banquet (JSB) being held tonight, here is the winning video from a STUGO contest for the most creative video for asking your date to JSB:

2009 President’s Annual Report

At the beginning of every year, many folks tend to go through their time of reflecting on the year just passed and looking forward to developments in the year ahead. Well, we do the same things as an organization here.

Reflection

At Multnomah, we ask many things of our president. Among them a "reflection," if you will, in the form of an annual report.

Looking Forward

In "looking forward," we've also asked Dr. Dan to star in an online video series where he discusses issues facing Multnomah and what we all might expect in the future. But far be it from him to simply lecture (it's not a classroom, afterall) - these videos are intended to be sparks that will bring feedback from you! As such, we've named the series "Conversations with Dr. Dan".

Enjoy!

Maybe we should call it "Cinco de Multstache"...

Back, by popular demand, is the annual Cinco de Mustache celebration blog post. This year's celebration saw a record turnout of finely groomed undergrad gentlemen and some brave faculty.

We'll post more information in the coming days as more pics and vids come our way, but for now, here's this:

Stay tuned in the next week or so for our latest installment in the Cinco de Mustache series: "Multnomah Mustaches We Wish We Had."

I'm always trying to find ways to keep Multnomah connected with people who might care. One of the ways to do that has been through the social media channels available - like Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc.
