The Multnomah University Lions squared off with their crosstown rivals the Portland Bible College Wildcats on Tuesday night at PBC. It was the second meeting of the year between the two schools as PBC won the first game of the year.
The first half looked like same song, second verse as Multnomah hung around, but could not wrestle control of the game as the Wildcat scored 51 points on their way to a 51-41 lead. Multnomah fell behind by 10 early and tied it, but fell back to the 10 point halftime deficit.
The second half was a whole new world as the Lions came out and turned a 12 point deficit into a tie game with 16 minutes to go, using their press to harass the Wildcats into 29 turnovers for the game. The Lions converted on many of the turnovers to take a 7 point lead with 5 minutes to go. PBC came back to cut the lead to 3 points, but Multnomah pulled away at the end for a 99-90 win.
Freshman Jordan Paris continues to play like a veteran, even though he is a freshman. He pulled down 10 rebounds and scored 8 points in 30 minutes of play. Davey Walker just scorched it from behind the three point line, hitting on 6 from downtown to lead MU in scoring with 29 points while grabbing 8 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. Point guard Steve Bustrin played a complete game by scoring 11 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, dishing out 7 assists with no turnovers and leading the Lions in steals with a game high 6.
