The Multnomah Lions hosted the North Adelaide Rockets from Australia on Tuesday night in a late afternoon matinee on the campus of Multnomah University. The Rockets are on a weeklong visit to the United States, playing 7 games in the Portland area.
Austin Hodges got things going by scoring 15 of the first 18 Multnomah points by hitting runners and three pointers from all over the place. The Lions took a 22-8 lead and then went cold and put a clinic on how to turn the ball over. Turnovers have plagued the Lions of late. The turnovers kept the game close at the half as the Rockets trailed 37-26.
Both teams played better in the second half scoring 39 points each. The Lions got a big lift off the bench from Jackson Coleman who knocked down 2 big shots to finish second in scoring with 12 points. Austin Hodges led all scorers with 32 points.
The Lions will host Cal State Maritime on Friday at 4:00 and then North Adelaide again on Saturday at 4:00 before taking the week off for Finals. The Lions are now 5-8 on the season.
