Zondervan recently issued the ninth printing of Dr. Wayne Strickland's book Five Views on Law and Gospel. To date, approximately 10,000 copies have been sold. The book features five authors discussing the relationship between the Mosaic Law and the Gospel.
The idea for Dr. Strickland's book grew out of his doctoral studies while at Dallas Theological Seminary. In his dissertation, he critiqued Daniel Fuller's book Gospel and Law that rejected a dispensational view.
Dr. Strickland, the general editor, assembled the book from 1989-1993. He collaborated with Greg Bahnsen, Walter Kaiser, Jr., Douglas Moo and Willem VanGemeren.
The original title of the book was The Law, The Gospel and the Modern Christian, but Zondervan renamed the book in 1996 when it became part of Zondervan's well-known Counterpoint series.
Five Views on Law and Gospel is written in a textbook style, designed for the informed layperson or above. Dr. Strickland said the book seriously engages the issue of the Law and Gospel on a textual basis.
