A reception will be held for Dr. Joseph Wong, who is retiring after serving Multnomah Bible College and Seminary for over thirty years. The reception will be held on June 30, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm, in the Student Commons building on Multnomah's campus. Family members, students, alumni, staff, and faculty of the school will be invited to celebrate with Dr. Wong.
In addition to some acknowledgements from his friends and coworkers, visitors will have an opportunity to make an entry into a book of memories and stories that will be put together for Dr. Wong to keep.
Dr. Wong began his work at Multnomah in 1971, and has taught for many years in both the college and the seminary. He primarily taught theology, but also spent time teaching Christian education. He has also spoken in local churches all along the west coast.
Dr. Wong served as the dean of students under Multnomah's second president, Willard Aldrich, as well as a brief time under Joseph Aldrich. Dr. Wong was involved in establishing regional accreditation for Multnomah in the 70's, and served on the board for the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC).
During his tenure, Dr. Wong also served as a faculty member, vice president, and member of the president's council. His most recent responsibility has been vice president of the Information Services Department. Dr. Wong's contributions to Multnomah are significant, both as a member of the Multnomah family and as a spokesman to the AABC.
