Dr. Garry Friesen, a Multnomah Bible College professor since 1976, is releasing a second edition of his best-selling book Decision Making and the Will of God, which sold over 200,000 copies in its first edition. In honor of the release, a chapel service and book signing will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004.
The new edition of Decision Making and the Will of God features many changes designed to better communicate Dr. Friesen's message of wise decision making. "We received questions from over one thousand readers after releasing the first edition. We hope to answer questions, clarify details, and better explain difficult concepts for readers who aren't accustomed to this approach in making decisions," said Dr. Friesen.
The book retains its original thesis: Before every decision we must ask, "Is it moral? Is it wise?" as God guides us with Scripture and wisdom to answer those questions. However, Dr. Friesen has condensed portions of the book, and expanded others. "Reducing a part one on the traditional view to a basic outline allowed me to expand the main idea," said Dr. Friesen.
75 additional pages of content have been added which include biblical wisdom taken from the Old Testament and the Gospels, in addition to the original material that was based on the Epistles. The second edition will also contain some new features, including a study guide for small groups, FAQs (frequently asked questions), and an appendix which critiques 15 other books written about God's will, and compares them to Decision Making.
On Thursday, September 16, a special chapel service will take place at Central Bible Church at 10:00 AM. At the service, Dr. Friesen's book will be dedicated. A book-signing reception will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 PM in the lobby of Multnomah's seminary building, where it will be on sale for a discounted price. Dr. Friesen will be in attendance, along with writing partner J. Robin Maxson.
