A two-day conference, "Same Sex Marriage, Civil Rights and Civility," will be held at Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary. The conference will be presented by the Seminary’s Institute for the Theology of Culture: New Wine, New Wineskins, and will explore the complex issue of gay marriage.
According to Dr. Paul Metzger, Director of New Wine, New Wineskins, "The aim of this event is three fold: hearing from all sides on the issue, providing a Biblical perspective on the subject, and learning how to live as salt and light in today’s changing culture."
On Friday evening, October 22, a diverse panel representing all sides will discuss the topic of same sex marriage, as well as respond to questions. On Saturday, October 23, there will be a daylong series of presentations.
Speakers for the second day of the conference will include Multnomah professors Dr. Paul Metzger, Dr. Calvin Blom, and Dr. Brad Harper, as well as Phil Hobizal and Joanne McBride.
The conference will take place in room L101 of Mitchell Library on Multnomah's campus. The cost for Friday evening is $5.00 per person. For Saturday, the cost is $5.00 for students and $10.00 for non-students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the seminary reception desk or at the door prior to events.
