Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary and Windows Booksellers are pleased to host a special event, An Evening With Rick McKinley. Multnomah alumnus Rick McKinley will be signing copies of his new book, Jesus in the Margins: finding God in the places we ignore. McKinley will read his favorite portion of the new book, and will be on hand to answer questions from audience members.
"We're really excited about Rick doing this event here at Multnomah," said Hilda Munk of Windows Booksellers. "He has gone on to pastor his own church, and now he’s an author. It's really exciting to see Multnomah graduates go on and make such an impact."
Jesus in the Margins explores the issue of identity as it can be found in Jesus Christ. McKinley points out that it was in the less desirable life situations that Jesus chose to minister to people. He claims that "it's in the margins that broken lives get mended, prisoners are set free, and the poor hear the Good News."
Fourteen years ago, while reading Acts 20:24, Rick McKinley felt God calling him into ministry, and within nine months of his conversion, he was a student at Multnomah Bible College. Today he is the lead pastor at Imago Dei Community, a place he and his wife Jeanne established for people to discover the love of Christ in the reality of life.
The book-signing event will take place at Windows Booksellers on the campus of Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary, 8435 NE Glisan Street in Portland. The event is on October 20 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. For more information, contact Windows Booksellers at 503.251.5383 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
