On Tuesday, April 8, Multnomah Bible College students
will put their learning in action through a bi-annual
community outreach. Each year, Multnomah undergraduates
serve area ministries, homeowners and businesses by
cleaning, painting, removing yard debris, cutting down
dead trees. Simply stated, the students are putting
their faith into action.
The Multnomah Community Outreach (MCO) and the student
ministries department sponsor this program, known to
students at the "day of outreach". Each year
approximately 600 undergraduate students contribute
about 120,000 volunteer hours in the Portland area.
In addition to the day of outreach, students complete
three to five hours a week of ministry work within a
local church or para-church ministry. A few ministries
Multnomah undergraduates have volunteered at are the
Portland Rescue Mission, Salvation Army, Portland Fellowship
and Good Shepherd Community Church.
One of the many opportunities students will perform
to serve the community on April 8 is cleaning Interstate
205 from Glisan Street to Sandy Blvd. both north and
southbound. The day's activities begin at 8:15 a.m.
at Central Bible Church located next the Multnomah campus
at 8815 NE Glisan St. Portland, 97220.
