The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) has
approved Multnomah
Bible College
to offer a B.S. in Elementary Education. Multnomah hopes to launch this program
in the fall of 2007.
"The commission with
its members commented on the excellence of the program design and the detail of
the proposal submitted," said Dr. Wayne Strickland , the academic dean of Multnomah Bible College.
"In fact the proposal was so great that they dispensed with the traditional
second reading meeting and approved it immediately."
Teacher Education Program Director Dr. Deborah Miller
prepared the elementary education proposal for TSPC and will be in charge of
the program when it begins.
A major step toward certified teaching programs occurred
when Multnomah received regional accreditation from NWCCU during the summer of
2006. Regional accreditation allows Multnomah to offer education programs that
provide special licensure, such as teaching and counseling. The final hurdle
before launching the B.S. in Elementary Education is to gain approval from NWCCU.
