Multnomah University's Men's Basketball and Women's Volleyball
teams are in Taiwan, conducting
various ministries to the people of Taipei.
Admissions Counselor Colin Wyenberg is along for the ride to help the teams,
recruit potential Multnomah students, and regularly blog about the trip.
Basketball Coach Curt Bickley
and Volleyball Coach Hanna Duke are leading the teams on this trip. They will spend
time in several schools in Taipei,
including Christ's College, speaking in chapel services, eating lunch with the
students, giving basketball and volleyball clinics, and playing games against
their teams.
The final stop on the trip will be a basketball clinic for
Tzu-Chiang Elementary students. The teams plan to visit local elementary
schools, handing out packs of NBA cards and inviting kids to the Saturday
basketball clinic to be held in Christ's College's gym.
Background
The men's basketball and women's volleyball teams usually
trade off each year for traveling mission trips, but Coach Bickley said it is
easier to take a larger group every two years. The new format also makes
fundraising efforts easier.
Quotes
"I am very excited about how this trip has grown since we
first established a relationship with Christ's College 5 years ago," Coach
Bickley said.
"I will be blogging every couple of days, and I'll be sure
to include plenty of pictures," Wyenberg said on the MU Blog. "This is a great
opportunity, and we would love if you would join us in praying that God would
grant us opportunities to share His love with the people of Taipei."
Blog
Wyenberg plans to write blog entries three times during the
trip from May 16 to May 25, and a closing entry after they return. You can
follow the trip by checking the MU Blog regularly, or by subscribing to the MU
Blog RSS feed.
