Multnomah Honors Neil Johnson As The 2010 Alumnus Of The Year

9/17/2010

This year, Multnomah University awarded Neil Johnson as the Honored Alumnus of the year, recognizing him as an alumnus whose life exemplifies Christ's work and the mission of Multnomah.

A special chapel event will be held in his honor on Multnomah's Portland campus at 10 a.m. on September 28, 2010, where Mr. Johnson will share his story with the student body. The Alumnus of the Year chapel is open to the public. Refreshments will be served at a reception in the JCA Student Lounge immediately after the chapel.

Neil Johnson, a self-employed structured settlements advisor, financially counsels and ministers to people who have been bereaved or seriously injured. He has taught Bible in churches for more than 50 years and occasionally served as an interim pastor. Mr. Johnson serves on the board of directors for The Ark Project, a mission organization that provides biblical training for Chinese nationals.

Quotes

"Neil Johnson not only supports Multnomah in our desire to train and equip leaders to impact the world, but he also continues to actively live out his faith through his business and volunteer work," Michelle Peel, Multnomah's director of alumni relations said. "Neil has walked humbly, maintained a steadied faith, and demonstrated a deep trust and dependence upon the Lord. He expresses a faithfulness that we hope all of our alumni will aspire to."

"The honor of being named Alumnus of the Year gives me a closer feeling with the Apostle Paul who said he was the least of all," Mr. Johnson said. "My life is anything but a model of faithfulness. God is the faithful one who works in my life in spite of my lack of faithfulness."
