Multnomah University's Fall 2010 enrollment is at an all-time
high with a total of 915 students. Overall, Multnomah has 65 more students
enrolled compared to last Fall 2009. While the traditional undergrad
programs and Adult Degree Completion held steady, the new graduate
programs and a more robust enrollment at the Reno-Tahoe campus make up the bulk
of the gains.
Staff members noted an excitement among new students during
the four-day orientation event on August 26-29. Students showed a strong desire
and eagerness to get to know each other, the faculty and staff, the
institution, and the city of Portland.
Women's residence halls and graduate student housing is at capacity,
and the men's residence hall and family housing are near capacity. The
all-school retreat at Young Life's Washington Family Ranch saw a record-high
attendance, a dashboard indicator to residence staff that an exciting year is
in store, with a lot of desire from students to be involved.
"This is one of the strongest enrollments the college has
had for quite a while," Multnomah Admissions Director John Mayner said. "Despite
the economic concerns, there seems to be an understanding of the value an
education at Multnomah brings not only for the individual but also for the
larger Christian community."
"When I walk into the new coffee shop or our main lounge,
students are engaged either in their studies or with each other which I love to
see," Dean of Student Services Matt Rygg said. "I've seen a theme here: an
eagerness to engage in relationship, the Word, and the community."
"Multnomah University is very blessed and excited to see a
record enrollment of 915 students this fall and a healthy retention of
students," Gina Berquist, Multnomah University vice president of Enrollment
Services, said. "This simply keeps the mission fresh in our minds that we are
here to equip our students to be a transforming force in the world, and
we look forward to seeing how God works this next year."
