Used goods will
turn into prized goods as 12 Multnomah University students design three dorm
rooms using only items from The Salvation Army Family Stores. Beginning in August, The Salvation Army Adult
Rehabilitation Center (ARC) will be partnering with these students in a
competition called "Design a Dorm Room on a Budget." With a budget of $250 per team, three teams
of students will head to local Salvation Army Family Stores to design a
creative dorm room. Each 10ft x 12ft
room will be displayed for public voting from August 25 to August 31 at The
Salvation Army Family Store located at 10174 SE 82 Ave., Happy
Valley, OR 97086.

About The Salvation Army Adult
Rehabilitation Center
The
Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Portland provides
spiritual, social and emotional assistance for men who have lost the ability to
cope with their addiction problems and to provide for themselves. It offers
residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean,
wholesome environment. The proceeds from the sale of donated goods at The
Salvation Army Family Stores are used to support the social and humanitarian
programs of The Salvation Army in the Portland area, primarily drug and alcohol
rehabilitation at the ARC. Since before "recycling" was a word, The Salvation
Army has been re-utilizing discarded and donated materials to help the
afflicted get their lives back on track. This important work has been underway
in Portland since 1886. For more information, visit www.satruck.org.
