Multnomah University's Men's Basketball Coach Bickley Named Coach of the Years

Multnomah University’s Men’s Basketball Coach, Curt Bickley, has been named the 2012-2013 Coach of the Year in both the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletics Association) West Region as well as the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. The honors were announced shortly after the team represented the West Region in two national tournaments for the first time in school history.
 

Team Accomplishments

Multnomah University’s Men’s Basketball team had an impressive season under Coach Bickley’s leadership.
  • The team won the NCCAA DII West Region Championship
  • Finished with a final record of 18-20
  • Went to two national tournaments, NCCAA DII and ACCA (Association of Christian College Athletics)
  • Averaged 110 points per game over the last 21 games (One of the top 5 scoring teams in the nation at any level)
  • Won 9 of their last 12 games
  • The team went on a 6 game winning streak during the season
  • Made 625 three pointers (The most by any team at any level this year)
  • Junior, Steve Bustrin broke the all-time assists record
  • Junior, David Walker broke the all-time three point record for a career

I admire the fact that he has chosen a system, and he is faithful to stick to it and get the team to buy into it as well. We play a really tough schedule, so for our guys to do some of the amazing things that they did this year really shows how strong of a leader Coach Bickley is.”

Athletic Director, Lois Vos says that “Coach Bickley is a great guy to work with and his receiving these awards is evidence of that fact. Coach is a committed leader who cares deeply about his players both on and off the court.”
