MBC Grounds Crew Wins National Award

The Professional Grounds Management Society has awarded Multnomah Bible College with the Honors Award for excellent grounds in 2003. Multnomah's grounds crew has won the national award five times in the last six years.

This year the awards ceremony will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, but MBC will not have a representative present as in previous years. "It just wasn't cost effective for us to go this year," Ron Casey, grounds supervisor, said.

To win this award, Multnomah must submit pictures of the entire campus for judging and compete against any college and university in the United States, not just smaller schools.

Last year, Mr. Casey attended the awards ceremony in Nashville to accept Multnomah's 2002 Honors Award. "It felt really special," he said. "But I also felt kind of guilty because the students really do most of the work."

The grounds crew employs two full-time workers and 14-15 students.
