The House of Bahn Mi

A few blocks from campus, this restaurant serves up a variety of tasty Bahn Mi. Grab a friend, grab a sandwich, and enjoy it with one of their many side snacks and drink options.

Santa Cruz Bakery and Taqueria

Just a short walk from MU, this is a favorite among students because of its authentic Mexican dishes and affordable prices. Head over with a group of friends for a quick meal and a family atmosphere.

Carioca Bowls

For a pick-me-up, head over to Carioca Bowls. They serve up delicious and organic açaí bowls, juices, and other Mediterranean specials. With a fun and bright atmosphere, you’ll be recharged in no time!

Grand Central Bakery

A Portland and Seattle staple that brings you artisan bread, sandwiches, and soups! Luckily for you, Grand Central Bakeries are located in favorite neighborhoods throughout Portland like Hawthorne and Fremont. Explore and enjoy a pastry!

Washington Park

Home to many iconic Portland landmarks, such as the Oregon Zoo, the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden, and 15 miles of trails, you’ll find no shortage of things to do on your day off in this beautiful park.

Powell’s City of Books

Being the largest bookstore in the world is pretty impressive – you’ll have to go check it out for yourself. Even if you don’t read often, it’s fascinating and is a fun place to explore with friends or to go study and enjoy a cup of coffee in their café.

Portland Saturday Market

Every Saturday, Portland hosts its iconic Saturday Market, featuring local vendors and many different food carts. Experience the various cultures present within Portland, all in one place.

Catch a Live Show

With plenty of venues to choose from, you can catch your favorite artists at the Roseland Theater, the Crystal Ballroom, the Moda Center, and more.

Mt. Tabor Park

Nestled just a few miles from campus, Mt. Tabor is a great place to go on a short hike, set up a hammock and relax, or just bring a few friends up for a picnic or study session. Be sure to catch a sunset or two while you’re there.

Rain or Shine

Portland, aka Stumptown, is full of fun cafés, including one of our local favorites, Rain or Shine, in the South Tabor Neighborhood.

Palio Dessert & Espresso House

Tucked in-between the homes of a quiet neighborhood, Palio offers a variety of coffees, food, and desserts, and is a peaceful spot to study.

Rocking Frog Cafe

Grab your friends and homework for a cozy study session at this quaint cafe in the lower Belmont District of southeast Portland. They serve up coffee, tea, and a simple but delicious breakfast and lunch menu.

Powell Butte Nature Park

Less than five miles from campus, this park offers you the opportunity to hike, bike, and even ride horses!

Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge

This refuge spans about 1.5 acres and showcases wetlands as well as deciduous forest, with the opportunity to hike and bike.

Marquam Nature Park

One of the larger parks, Marquam is 193 acres of undeveloped land and boasts more than five miles of scenic hiking trails.

Linnton Loop Hike Trailhead

The Linnton Loop is about 5.2 miles long and provides a 930-foot elevation gain – perfect if you’re looking for a slight challenge.

The Rose Church

Located in the heart of the Laurelhurst neighborhood, Rose Church is home to many of our students and provides a safe and bright atmosphere for worship.

Bridgetown Church

Bridgetown practices the way of Jesus in the urban core of Portland and in homes all over the city throughout the week in communities.

Door of Hope

Door of Hope is a family of churches just 15 minutes away from campus that exist for Jesus as a movement of grace for revival in the city through the gospel.

Hinson Church

Located in the Buckman neighborhood of Portland, Hinson emphasizes the preaching of God’s Word, gospel-centered community, and congregational singing.
