Q. How does Multnomah’s distributed residential program differ from a fully residential or fully online program?
A. Multnomah Connect utilizes the best of available instructional methods, including local, web-based, and intensive courses. We recognize that there are many people entering vocational ministry in places where seminary education is not readily available. Our goal is to make a high-quality seminary education accessible to men and women serving or preparing to serve in ministry in such places while upholding the importance of community in the education process. Our local courses are taught by highly-qualified adjunct faculty who live and serve in the communities where our extension sites are located so that each site is uniquely positioned to train servant leaders in that area.

Q. What if I don’t live near Portland, Seattle, or Reno? Can I complete a Multnomah Biblical Seminary degree entirely online?
A. Because we place a high value on the community aspect in seminary education, we have not designed a fully-online program to complete an MA or MDiv degree. You can, however, get a head start by completing the first year of a seminary degree online.

Q. What are the admission requirements?
A. The requirements and process for admission to Multnomah Biblical Seminary apply to all Multnomah Connect applicants. You can find out about the admissions process by visiting our Admissions page.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year is $450 per credit hour for web-based and local courses. Tuition for January term and Summer term intensive courses is also $450 per credit hour. For more detailed information visit our Seminary Tuition & Fees page.

Q. Can I receive financial aid?
A. Financial aid is available to Multnomah Connect students. For information and application instructions, please visit our Financial Aid page.

Q. Is a degree earned through Multnomah Connect accredited?
A. Multnomah Biblical Seminary enjoys the highest levels of accreditation available. As a part of Multnomah University, MBS is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities (NWCCU), and as a seminary MBS is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

Q. I’ve completed some seminary credits at another school, will they transfer to Multnomah?
A. In many cases, yes. Specific questions about the transferability of credits should be addressed to the Registrar’s office. Minimum requirements of courses taken in residence at Multnomah must be met in order to receive a degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary. These requirements can be found in the University Catalog.

Q. Do I qualify for Advanced Track status, and if so, what are the benefits?
A. Advanced Track status is available to students who completed a minimum of 36 semester hours of Bible coursework at an accredited Bible college. All decisions on the applicability of undergraduate coursework are the purview of the Registrar. Advanced Track students may, in certain situations, waive up to 10 credit hours of a MACL program or up to 15 credit hours of a Master of Divinity program. Q. How does a blended course work?
A. A blended course takes advantage of the flexibility offered through online learning while incorporating a component of community often lacking in online education. A blended course can be mostly a face to face traditional format with some course content delivered via the internet, or it can be students in proximity to one of our extension sites meeting regularly with a trained facilitator to engage the web delivered content together.
