The Multnomah Lions continued their hot shooting Monday afternoon as they took on the Walla Walla University Wolves in the final conference game of the season. The NAIA II Wolves came out playing fast, but MU countered the pace with the three point line. The Lions hit 12 three pointers, including Jackson Coleman at the buzzer to take a 64-56 lead into the locker room at the half.
On Senior Day, it was time for Austin Hodges to shine and that he did. In the second half, Hodges hit from deep and taking it to the hole to help MU push their lead to 118-101. Hodges got help from Davey Walker who hit an incredible 6 straight bombs from behind the arc to give MU that lead. The Lions went 15 for 26 from the three point line in the second half to take the victory 129-124.
For the game, MU hit 27 threes on 62 attempts to offset the WWU rebound advantage of 70-38. Davey Walker led the Lions with 33 points on 10 of 20 from behind the arc. Austin Hodges kicked in 32 points. Steve Bustrin had 20 points and 11 assists with only 2 turnovers and only 9 shots. Erik Mendoza continued his hot shooting with 17 points and Jackson Coleman, playing in place of the injured Jordan Paris, scored 13 points.
The Lions will play West Coast Baptist in Regional play on Friday night at 5:00 at PBC. The winner plays PBC on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
