The Multnomah Lions squared off with the visiting Central Bible Spartans from Springfield, Missouri on Friday night in an evenly played game that went the way of the Spartans by a final score of 83 – 80.
MU used all 15 players in the first half and got contributions from Seth Coleman and Stevie Sansone to get things going early after falling behind 12-26. The Lions scrapped back into the game by hitting 9 three pointers to get to within 2 points by a score of 44-46.
Seth Coleman nailed a 2nd half three to give MU a one point lead which they pushed to 6 points, but the Spartans came back with points in the paint and a couple of timely bombs from the outside to take the lead late. Austin Hodges scored with 13 seconds left cut the lead to 2 points. After a made free throw for the Spartans, Hodges got off a shot at the buzzer to tie that fell short.
The Lions are now 4-7 on the season and will face off with Valley Forge Christian College Saturday night at 7:00.
