Portland, Oregon- October 26, 2012- The Multnomah University Lions started the home schedule out with a barn burner against the Columbia Bible College Wildcats from Abotsford, B.C.
The Lions were ice cold early on as the Wildcats were knocking down everything from everywhere. MU was down 41-21 with 9:30 to go in the first half when Sophomore guard Michael Kamlade came to the rescue. Kamlade, the younger brother of MU's 2nd all time leading scorer Nick, came into the game and grabbed a rebound, dished out an assist, hit two free throws and nailed two long three pointers that would have made Willey Yates proud. Junior guard Bryn Cumberland knocked down a three pointer right before the half to send MU into the locker room down 53-50.
In the second half, Freshman Jackson Coleman nailed both three's that he shot and Freshman point guard Stevie Sansone keyed a lat run with a three point play. Sansone hit all 9 of his free throws in the tight contest. Cumberland sealed the game with a late three to put MU up 5 with 25 seconds to go.
David Walker led Multnomah with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Austin Hodges added 18 points and Sansone finished with 16. The Lions are 1-1 on the year and will play the Wildcats again tomorrow night at 7:00.
