La Grande, OR – The Multnomah University Lions played their first road game of the year at Eastern Oregon University on Friday night. The game was the second of the year against an NAIA II team.
The Lions came out with a strong start pushing the ball up the floor, leading for most of the first half with a lead as big as 8 points. Late in the first half, EOU came back and took a one point lead with 3 seconds left and then hit a half-court shot to push the halftime lead to 47-43.
EOU then came out with a 22-4 run to start the second half to push the lead up to 22 points. The Mountaineers led by 18 points with 8:00 to go, but Kristoff Thande came off the bench to hit 5 three pointers to cut the lead to five points with just over 2 minutes to go. Steve Bustrin then found Jordan Paris for a three pointer to cut the lead to two points, only to be erased on a travel call. EOU went on to win the game 115-105.
Kristoff Thande led the Lions with 26 points in 22 minutes. Jordan Paris snagged 12 rebounds to go with his 11 points. Steve Bustrin had 6 assists. The Lions connected on 16 three pointers in 51 attempts. MU is now 3-3 on the season.
