The Multnomah Lions scored points early and often on Friday night as they took on the Northwest Indian College Eagles in a high scoring game that featured a total of 265 points scored as the Lions won by a score of 143-122.
Erik Mendoza, coming off a career high 39 points, scored another 23 points in the first half to help MU take a 68-52 lead into the locker room. Steve Bustrin had 11 assists in the first half and Austin Hodges knocked down 2 long ones to help pace the Lions.
NWIC came out hot in the second half to cut the lead to 5 points, but the Lions found their swag and started knocking it down from all over. Steve Bustrin took control as he dished the ball out to his teammates on his way to a school record 18 assists, breaking the mark of 15 held by Henry Barrera.
Erik Mendoza led 6 Lions in double figures scoring 37 points. David Walker added 24 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jordan Paris snagged 12 rebounds and Mike Kamlade scored 15 points and dished out 7 assists.
Multnomah will play New Hope Christian College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
