Coaching Staff

Multnomah University's 2011 Volleyball Coaches

Head Coach: Tim Bieri

Tim Bieri is in his first season serving as the head volleyball coach at Multnomah University.

Bieri brings five years of coaching experience into the 2011 season. In 2010 - before taking the reins of the volleyball team - Coach Bieri served as the assistant Varsity basketball coach and the head JV basketball coach at MU under the leadership of Coach Curt Bickley.

Coach Bieri has enjoyed the game of volleyball for many years even though he spent the vast majority of his athletic career within the realm of basketball. Bieri played basketball for four years at Fort Lewis College (NCAA D2) in Durango, Colorado, where he received a number of accolades and was a part of several league-championship teams. In 2007 Bieri graduated Magna-Cum-Laude from Fort Lewis with a bachelor’s degree in Communications.

Bieri and his wife (and assistant coach), Sara, moved to Portland from Colorado in the summer of 2010 in order for Sara to attend Multnomah’s Biblical Seminary.

“I am humbled and excited to be part of the MU volleyball family. The Lord has placed a strong desire in my heart to serve Him and others through athletics – and this is an outstanding opportunity to do that.” – Coach Bieri

Assistant Coach: Sara Bieri

Originally from Colorado, Sara was fortunate enough to play a variety of sports. Volleyball is a sport that Sara has always loved to play, and now she is very excited about the opportunity to help out on the other side of the game as a coach. This is her first year at Multnomah as the assistant coach and this opportunity is allowing Sara to return to the sport she thoroughly enjoys.

Sara received her Bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she majored in Exercise Science. She worked as an exercise specialist for two years and cherished sharing her knowledge for health/exercise with individuals and sport teams. She is currently a student at Multnomah Biblical Seminary studying Family Ministry and Pastoral Care, hoping to serve youth in the community and share the love of Jesus.

When Sara is not coaching and studying, she loves spending time with her husband, reading, taking walks, and playing the guitar. She also enjoys fellowship and discipleship with others over a cup of coffee.
