It was a fast night for the Multnomah volleyball team as they drove south to face a strong Northwest Christian team.  The Beacons overpowered the Lions with aggressive attacks and consistent defense, sweeping MU in three straight sets in approximately 45 minutes.

The Lions struggled to find any sort of rhythm offensively and defensively as the offense was shut down by the athletic Beacons, and the defense found it difficult to get touches on the powerful kills coming from the home hitters.  The ladies from the NCU stood head and shoulders above the Lions, as 8 players measure in over 5’10’’ while the tallest player from Multnomah stands at 5’9’’.

The Lions received a very strong match from both seniors, Maimona Shafir (setter) and Leanne Gish (opposite/ds).  Shafir finished the night with 20+ solid sets and Gish kept the ball alive with 6 digs as well as a load of good passing.

MU gets set for two more matches this week as they welcome Umpqua Community College on Thursday and then travel back down to Eugene to take on New Hope Christian College on Friday.
