10/11/12-10/17/12 Interstate 5 (I-5), Oregon and California 

Over the past 7 days the Multnomah Volleyball team traveled well over 2,000 miles on their longest road stretch of the season.  With four matches in 7 days, the Lady Lions hoped to find their “road-rhythm” but instead came away with a lot of stop and go, up and down, momentum shifting play.  Through the hills and valleys MU was not able to pull out a set or match victory, falling to all four of their opponents in three straight sets, leaving the team with a 2-19 overall record. 

The first stop came in Redding, California where MU faced the Red Hawks of Simpson University.  This NAIA team showed its athleticism and experience by taking the Lions down in three straight sets – holding MU to single digits in the last two sets. 

The Lions then traveled further south to Lancaster, California to take on their NCCAA West Region counterparts for two National Tournament deciding matches.  Early in the season the Lions were twice defeated by WCBC, both in three straight sets.  Once again, the Eagles swept the Lions in three straight sets, in two straight matches.  However, the month long separation since the last matches proved beneficial for the Lions as they showed significant improvements, scoring over 15 points in 4 out of the 6 sets, and pushing past 20 points 2 out of the last 3 sets. 

Finally, the last stop for MU came in Salem, Oregon where they were welcomed by a strong Chemeketa Community College team.  The CCC Storm rained down kills on the Lions, sweeping them in 3 straight sets. 

The Multnomah Volleyball team has 4 matches remaining in this 2012 season – two home and two away.

The Lions continue to strive for improvement and success as they hope to finish the season well over the next two weeks.
