Multnomah's 2002 yearbook, The Ambassador, won a first-place rating in the American Scholastic Press Association's 2002 yearbook competition. In the division "Colleges/Universities Enrollment: 500-1000," Multnomah was the only college to receive a first-place rating.
The 2002 Ambassador scored perfectly in the categories of page design and creativity. Judges also noted excellence in the writing and photography. Specific areas of superiority were the attractive and effective graphics, consistency in design and photo placement. The final score was 935 points out of 1,000 points.
Judges noted a need to include a "Year in Review" section that would highlight local, national and international news, music, fashion, fads and movies. Also, judges said that some photographs were so small that the faces were unclear.
The Ambassador also lost points on the faculty section, where the judge recommended that the yearbook staff include each faculty member's name and department as well as their extra-
curricular involvement.
Editor Katie Karman worked with staff members Sarah Schwaab, Ben Bevard, Woody Woodsum, Becki Quiring, Sarah Campbell, Britta Udenberg, Shelly Van Allen and Professor Ann Staatz in the making of the 2002 Ambassador.
