All students, faculty and staff will receive a free, professionally recorded compact disc of songs from Multnomah chapels.
Junior John Ross and his band, who lead chapel worship, are creating the compact disk, titled "Forgiven Much."
Since last year, Ross said, "I've had this dream of being able to give Multnomah students a personal worship tool. I've wanted to give them some songs they were familiar with."
"Forgiven Much" will be a compilation of updated hymns and original songs. Hymns include "Nothing but the Blood" and "My Faith Has Found a Resting Place." Three original pieces will be "Near to Me" and "Without the Blood" by junior Brian Cheney and "Highest Heaven" by Ross.
Ross will not be the first Multnomah student to cut a compact disc, but he and his band will be the first to offer a free album to students.
The band has received enough donations, including an initial donation of $1,500, to cover the estimated $7,000 production cost, Ross said.
The compact disc will be recorded at AMG Studios in Salem, Ore. Once the master compact disc is complete, each copy will cost $1.50 to make.
The student-run band will hit the studio in March to record "Forgiven Much." The members also plan to do a live recording at Crossroads Church in Vancouver, Wash., this April.
Besides Ross and Cheney, band members featured on the compact disc include junior Sheri Stafford; sophomores Scott Olsen, Chuck Carson, Jon Collins; and freshman Kevin Kruse.
"Forgiven Much" is planned to be released on May 1.
