Treitman is best candidate for '04-'05 Stugo president

The elections for Stugo president aren't until March 8, but Jocelyn Treitman already is the clear choice. She has set herself apart this year as someone who can create vision, take leadership and accomplish goals.

The Stugo president has a large amount of authority. Not only must she cast the vision of Stugo, but she also appoints five of 12 positions on the executive council. Much of Stugo's effectiveness will rest on her.

Jocelyn doesn't wait for a title to take responsibility. Her accomplishments this year include serving as White Hall activities coordinator, treasurer and public relations for the World Seen team and as a leader for both fall banquet and JSB. She has volunteered to help with preview weekends, cooked for seminary preview and led prayer meetings Tuesday and Thursday nights.

She also has big plans for next year. She would like to work with Dr. Harper to involve more students in the New Wine, New Wineskins program to create cultural awareness at Mult-nomah. She has already presented

ideas to Dean Bob Bailey and Academic Dean Wayne Strickland, such as Stugo working closer with the RAs and promoting low-cost or free activities in the A-Frame regularly.

Jocelyn is passionate for the Lord. Her desire to grow spiritually and to exhort the student body to deepen its relationship with Christ is obvious. She is outspoken about her faith and is dedicated to proactively reaching the community.

Although both Jelani and Justin have positive qualities as well, they would serve better in positions other than president. Justin's long service on Stugo and his administrative knowledge would make him an excellent vice president. Jelani's service as spiritual life coordinator is a good fit for him, and he should serve in that position again.

Jocelyn has proven that she would make an excellent president. She not only has the drive, but also the ability to make Stugo an effective, relevant governing body on campus.

Vote for Jocelyn Treitman on March 8.
