Honduras fund continues to grow

The missions conference planning committee is still collecting money for hurricane victims in Honduras. After three months of collecting money in soda cans covered with green paper, the total as of Feb. 23 was $7,850. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Ministries office until March 15.

Many committee members were discouraged at the response until the wheelbarrow offering was taken at the missions conference. "When we were opening the cans, I was amazed at how God had provided and people had sacrificed," committee member Cris Schmitt said.

Schmitt deposited the money at the Wells Fargo Bank where she works. The people there weren't especially happy with the four large bags of change. It took them a half an hour to run it through the change machine. "It was exciting to share with them what was going on and tell them that this is something our school really cares about," Schmitt said.

Tom Skipper, a missionary with CAM, will be taking the money down to Honduras in the first week of April.
