Publication editors chosen for 2001-2002

Carolyn Stent and Katie Karman will be The Voice and Ambassador editors for the 2001-2002 school year.

Stent, a reporter for The Voice during the spring semester, said she realized how much the members of the newspaper staff depend on each other. She said the hands-on experience she gained while working on the paper was a great way to learn.

Stent agreed to be editor because of the learning experience it offers. The position of newspaper editor will help her pursue her career in journalism.

Next year Stent said she wants the newspaper staff to be "detail oriented from the beginning. I'd like to work on helping the students on The Voice learn to work ahead on the preliminary stages to make the last ones easier."

Karman was story editor for the Ambassador yearbook this year. She enjoyed making close friendships on the yearbook staff.

"Yearbook has kept me in touch with campus," Karman, who lives off campus, said. "I've gotten to know so many people I wouldn't have met. It's taught me to be more observant and alert."

As yearbook editor, Karman hopes to sharpen her design and computer skills and get practical experience teaching and guiding others. She wants her team to have fun, work hard and support each other.
