Nurse resigns at MBC to care for her grandson

Nurse Jane Keller will not return to Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary next fall. After five years of working at MBC, she has decided to resign and help her daughter care for her son.
Mrs. Keller said she believes that parents and grandparents should teach the law of God to their children and grandchildren as commanded in Deuteronomy 6. Because her daughter will work outside the home, Mrs. Keller believes she should be at the home to care for and teach her grandson.
Nurse Keller graduated from Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., in 1968 and at 19 worked as a registered nurse at a county hospital.
While her children were at home, Mrs. Keller kept her nursing license by working part time and helping at summer camps. Twenty-five years later, she completed her bachelor's degree at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Nurse Keller first thought about working at Multnomah when she read the college's advertisement for a nurse position. "My husband and I saw the ad and thought, 'Oh, that sounds good!'" she said.
She said she has enjoyed seeing the students' desire to serve God, and she has watched them grow and serve God in wonderful ways.
Nurse Keller said the most difficult aspect of serving as a nurse is seeing young people go through terrible health problems. "Illness doesn't know age," she said.
One of her best memories as MBC's nurse was the all-school retreat at Wildhorse Canyon. "It was really uplifting spiritually to be singing together and praising the Lord," Mrs. Keller said.
